GMU 513
« on: June 13, 2014, 11:09:25 AM »
I was drawn for Anterless in unit 513 as my last choice, haven't really spent time in the area. Any tips or suggestions would be a great help. Thanks

You, me and 248 other people  :o ..... Plus the other couple thousand that hunt spikes up there. Roads get a ton of traffic so might have to hike a bit to find em but they are there.

Khunter #1 sorry about that... Got my GMU's turned around in my head. I got a muzzy doe tag for 513 and a modern Cow tag for 364 (Rimrock). I was talking about Rimrock. 513 has some good area though the roads are not great in places and most of the spur roads are overgrown which is good for us liking to hike. I will be scouting both areas real soon and let you know if I see something worth reporting.

I assume this is for antlerless deer? If so, there's only 10 permits.  I'm actually surprised there are any. The unit is about 99% National Forest with not much logging, and I don't believe that unit has many deer. The general season report shows only 21 bucks killed and three does. I guess if it were me I'd plan on doing a lot of scouting.

There are actually a lot of deer in there. But they are hard to find and even harder to get to. Get off the roads and get up high and you should be able to find one.

Yeah this was my last hunt choice, I've done a lot of camping in the area, so I thought it would be cool to hunt up there somewhere. Not really expecting to have much luck, Just being out in the woods is great!
