Willapa Hills Gated?
« on: November 17, 2008, 06:13:46 PM »
Just heard it is pretty much all gated, not that is a bad thing.  But I also heard it was steep so I was wandering if parts of it were not so bad for some girls to pack something out of :P

Ya know, being gated is not bad. I have always enjoyed getting around on a bike. The bad thing is that the new gate seems to have many keys. Early season I pushed my bike many miles up hill just to be pasted by all of the people that are to lazy to put out the effort out to do things the right way.
Good luck,
John

I like to get away from the lazy slobs, The best thing about a long up-hill hike is it is easier coming out at dark(downhill) and the pack out is easier. Get one down first, you won't mind making a few trips.

i too had the same question... are the gates open or not??? i was there for the last day of modern and its my first year in 506 and didnt think the same gates i hiked/biked/walked through would be open only to find out i could drive just as far as i struggled to walk for hours.

so does anyone know if these gates that were opened for modern are closed after modern season?? or are they left open??? ive head mixed info so a definitive answer???

in more specific detail grays river area....

I live here in the willapa hills hunted  my entire life 42 now. Most of the walk in gates are locked year round . Then back towards salmon creek on the back side of trap creek after season is over they lock the gates on the main line and dont open till modern the next year.
