Hanauer's an elitist jerk and very similar to the Hollywood elitist jerks who have all the protection they need so see no problem in reducing mine. Thanks for the write-up, Dave. Spot on, as usual.

I wonder how much $ this clown is now funneling to the politicians to get his way.  I have to wonder what his real motivation behind this is...does he own a security services corporation or plan to buy up real estate that honest citizens won't be able to protect?

I'm not sure what real estate has to do with this discussion.  :dunno: And, just because you're rich doesn't mean you're not honest. Don't get into that trap.

He's a typical wealthy elitist who's feeling guilty about his wealth and is out to make the US a better place according to his vision.

All of us should be prepared to fight this at the grassroots level by educating people with facts from this day forward.  There is no doubt these people pushing their anti-gun/gun-control agendas will try to convince voters to support the initiative through the use of emotionally charged propaganda.  Propaganda looks, sounds, and smells like propaganda when facts are presented equally.  We can defeat this initiative if we all take action to educate people with facts.  I am sure there will be more helpful posts as the situation develops.

Hopefully then it will be overturned as unconstitutional. Even a vote of the majority can't be unconstitutional.

I am forever frustrated every time the issue of Universal Background Checks comes up. Gun Control Advocates are glaringly uninformed.
The last string of mass shootings ALL WHERE DONE BY PEOPLE WHO OBTAINED THEIR GUNS VIA BACKGROUND CHECKS! Yes, Fort Hood, Virginia Tech, the Gabby Gifford shooting, the Colorado Theater, Both Shopping Mall Shootings, (Tacoma, WA & Oregon) And Sandy Hook!
The Oregon Mall Shooter, and the Sandy Hook Shooter both stole their guns but nonetheless, they were initially purchased via the NICS Background Check Legally.
So... Common sense dictates that based on empirical evidence background checks did nothing at all to stop evil, and bad guys from getting guns! The one shooter that might have been prevented by background checks and was not was the Virginia Tech shooter because he had, in fact, been adjudicated to be potentially violent. Cho, who killed 32 people in 07' had been deemed mentally ill by a judge, which is one of the criteria used to disqualify certain people trying to buy a gun. Others who could be potentially disqualified include convicted felons, fugitives, drug addicts and domestic abusers. But Cho's case never made it into the NICS system! And, who’s fault is that? What to do? Well, bad people, and crazy people will not all of a sudden become law-abiding citizens, and adhere to an expanded law that did not stop them thus far. So… Demand that our elected officials at all levels prosecute gun crimes to the fullest extent of the law, which currently they do not. And, get a grip on yourselves Gun Control Advocates! You cannot legislate away All of the bad things that people do.

Not everyone in pugetropolis is a lib(youknowwhat) And you won't have Mary Jane and Gay rights to bring them out of all the cracks and crevases to vote. What we need to do is talk to the GUN OWNERS that  don't see the problem of the foot in the door of The background check bunch, and I know a couple.

Kind of an old one to bring back up, but thought it fit.

I wonder how much $ this clown is now funneling to the politicians to get his way.  I have to wonder what his real motivation behind this is...does he own a security services corporation or plan to buy up real estate that honest citizens won't be able to afford?

I'm not sure what real estate has to do with this discussion.  :dunno: And, just because you're rich doesn't mean you're not honest. Don't get into that trap.

He's a typical wealthy elitist who's feeling guilty about his wealth and is out to make the US a better place according to his vision.
He wrote this article--http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/06/the-pitchforks-are-coming-for-us-plutocrats-108014_Page4.html#.U7BXCf8U_IU
So, he feels guilty about his wealth and fears unrest due to class disparity which would bring down the mega-rich; his solution is to disarm the would be 'revolters'.  Figured the gun control angle was all about him (and his buddies).

I came accrossed something of interest, but forget where. But it explains how the word well regulated was  meant back in the day it was added to the second amendment. It has nothing to do with being well regualted as with Gov regualtions.
Always Pees me off how shall not be infringed is overwritten with well regualted!
I never understand how when a judge or supreme court judge can say that it doesn't undully harm a persons second amendment rights?
Much like how they ruled recently in Colorado!
