Saw a big bear this weekend
« on: June 23, 2014, 10:38:49 AM »
Watched a big black bear feeding in a meadow at 75 yards from our campsite Saturday night. It was too dark for quality photographs, but the next morning I tracked his movements from the previous night and got shots of a print in the snow, and a fresh pile of his scat.

For reference, this print is pictured with an FNX 40 that has a 7.4" length, and the gun is sitting about 1.5" closer to the camera than the print.  The gun actually fit inside the depression of the print. I wish I'd had a measuring tape - though I realize a print isn't always indicative of size.

His scat was also by far the biggest pile we encountered over the weekend, out of about 24 piles on the 7-mile hike into camp.

I haven't a seen a ton of bears, but this was by far the biggest.  I'm hoping he'll stick around until August 15th!

I'm looking forward to seeing your pics with him this fall.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I'm going to be going back in sometime next month to setup a trail-cam.

Hopefully he sticks around!

Nice looking bear dude. Let me know if you want company when you go in with the trail cameras.
