Pennsylvania Doe Tags ...
« on: July 14, 2014, 05:34:57 PM »
Man ...talk about a joke ..Just talked with my Dad back in PA and he was telling me that PA is out to eliminate the deer population threw out the state . A grand total of around 800,000 doe permits will be given out this year ..In the area my family lives they will be giving out 50,000 of those tags ..Hunters are complaining about how the state is trying to kill all the deer off ...Could you imagine the state of Washington ever being So liberal with their deer tags ....Lmao ...I know we do not have near the deer PA does but I had to toss that in there  :dunno: :chuckle: That is just insane to give that many deer tags out in any state ..not counting what the state racks up on road kill ...CRAZY !!!!

Did your dad actually try to call the DFG or read some of their literature? There must be a survey of some sort supporting the tags. Unless they were born yesterday I don't think they would be so foolish  as to eliminate their own jobs. I'm guessing that there must be 30+ deer per square mile out there and that while 800,000 sounds like a lot of tags, perhaps only 500K or so will actually get filled.

I think they just started selling tags today ... You can go to the PA Game Commission site and look up DOE TAGS ...Of course not they will not sell them all but that's what is available ...2A is the area I was raised in ...59,000 + tags available to be exact ... :chuckle:

IL regulates their deer herd through the auto insurance industry. Too many deer vs car claims?  Sell unlimited doe tags otc.  That's a fact.

Oh man, my dad is gona come unglued when he sees that! Seems reckless.  Deer numbers at home on the farm, NE Pennsylvania, have been pretty good the past 10 years or so. And since the point restriction there have been 5 or 6, 135"+ whitetales taken....

$6.70 each.  That is cheaper than they were growing up in Montana in the 80's.

I was just visiting family in NW PA. Saw deer every day. Lots of fawns.  Was a great trip.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Based on the site and the way they are selling out, it doesn't appear that PA hunters have too big an issue with it.

We have ground in 1B, and my family I am sure all have doe tags there. For a bonus tag, I'd be all over the 1A tags that are left over!!

Usually only about 1/3rd of the doe tags get filled. Not sure why that number is so low.
