Bears and salmon streams

Looking at the Hump river and all the branches of streams going through the Olympic National Forest has anyone had good success hunting bears during the runs? There seams to be two good runs during bear season I am just not familiar with how far the run up the Hump. Idea seams easy enough and better than stumbling through all the old growth forest.

I'd probably concentrate my efforts on a pretty small stream. Preferably during a humpy run which is every odd year. scout the stream and find the bears' fishin hole. The main stem Hump and even it's forks just seem a bit big to focus on. Just my .02 cents.

I'd focus on berries, you don't want to eat a fish bear.

It can work, but to get the right rain to bring in enough fish to make it worthwhile might be pushing the end dates for bear season.  I seem to remember last year that the rains didn't come until early Nov and the salmon only came in so-so.  It also occurs during elk season and quite a few guys were disappointed (even in the last couple rainy years) at the lack of salmon that did return (silvers) and were in the creeks during mod elk season.
