Rabbit squealer or fawn in distress this time of year? How long would you wait after calling?

I prefer the fawn in distress I wait for about a half hour depending on where I'm calling.  although I have only taken two bear calling, both with the fawn distress.  I have had  a lot of other critters come in especially doe's charging in ready to defend a fawn just be ready.

Not knowing what the hell I was doing back when I was young and dumb, I blew on a fawn bleat over and over again thinking I was going to call in a buck (really I was bored) and a HUGE black bear came rollin' in. That was in the middle of Oct. soooo I don't know. Usually there is no fresh fawns in Oct. so I don't know I think anything will do for a bear.

I use Distress a lot. Fawn, elk calf and bear cub Distress. Leave next week for the coast. Cant wait. Rick

I live on the east side of the state, so I have to wait till Sept to hunt.  What call would you recommend for a early September hunt?, iv never shot a bear calln one in so I'd like to try

fawn/calf distress all year long. Rabbit distress (cottontail/jackrabbit) all year long. Call continuously for at least an hour.

Have you guys noticed any better calling results at any general time of day?  Most bears I've seen and shot have been mid-day out moving and a little later in the year.  when I was scouting this week the day (shooting light) was starting at about 5 am and good until 9:30 pm.

Hey Rick.....how about the affect good or bad of switching up during a call sequience. I'm probably over thinking it but I doubt a bear would be draw to a fawn distress then  freaked out when all of a sudden it changes to rabbit.

I do Distress after 20 minutes or so i'll do bear cub distress a couple times with mournful distress or fawn mournful sounding or coyote howl with pup distress to change things up. Do a lot of distress with emotion in it. I can show tomorrow how I get the sounds. I use a closed reed alot. If I want to be timid I do a fawn distress or elk in timber. Always get a bobcat or coyote to come in on the coast. Billy has done very well with elk sounds. Rick

I switch it up all the time. Sometimes it is the only thing that will get a bear to come in after it has hung up.
