I don't know what the guys are talking about when they suggest taking a doe is easy. I wouldn't shoot a doe with a fawn.If its a yearling then go ahead but in my few doe permits it wasn't a slam dunk taking one as there were lots that had fawns.I counted 70 does and fawn pairs one year before I got one and it turned out she was pregnant.I really think we should stop mule deer doe hunting till their #'s are back to what they were 40 years ago. With the bow hunters taking many and the permit hunters killing more, wolves, bears and cats #'s increasing, I don't think our mule deer are going to recover.
Finding a fat lone doe this time of year is easy....though the fawns are plenty big enough to survive at this point. Shooting mule does (in this unit) is not the problem. The buck to doe ratio is garbage and shooting a few does is a good thing (in my opinion). They need to stop the poaching of mature bucks. This one act will effect the population more than anything. Again this is just my opinion so not trying to start any arguments.
