Theracell
« on: August 09, 2014, 11:19:14 AM »
So after multiple mosquito bites on camping and scouting trips this past summer, I decided to buy a theracell. Was very impressed with how it worked. Not a single bite on either me or my 15 month old son. My question is if any of you have had any problems with deer or elk detecting it while in the field. The area i elk hunt has several boggy areas the elk use as wallows, and i usually get multiple bites.Hard to sit still when being eaten alive. :yike: Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

I had my thermacell on and strapped to my backpack when I harvested my last 2 elk. (1bull, 1cow)Both times my shots were less than 20 yards.  I love my. Thermacell, won't go hunting or mining without it.

Thanks Wormfood. I got 25 or so bites last trip before i bought it. I'm sold on it, just don't want to scare off game

i love my theracell, i turn it on and watch the bugs flock to it and leave me alone. i would have named it B.A.I.T. or C.A.G.I. short for come and get it. try it at the beaches and the bugs come by the hundreds.as far as game animals it probably attracts them too.

Definitely a repellant not attractant.  They make an earth scented repellant for the thermacells now, just picked up a pack.

I don't leave home without it, whether hunting, camping or fishing!  It sits next to me while I'm in a tree stand or sitting on a stump.  I've had lots of deer within 5 yards of me, and an elk within 20 yards.  None seem effected by the Therma-cell.

Me thinks you're using it wrong.

Well I'll be!  Just watched several videos.  Quick and simple.  I'll be stopping at a local smoke shop to get a butane can with the assorted tips!

I was on a hunt for wild pigs in a jungle in Thailand.... Sat on the dirt from 9PM until 2 AM with my thermacell 5 feet away. Not one bite. Yeah, they work.

**** side note; Last time I sat in a jungle was on patrol in '69. It felt strange to be holding a longbow instead of M16. Flashbacks....
