i got the 2 pack of simmons for my first cams.  Gasman and i put em out this year.  working good, over 6500 pics in a month, 90% success...great daylight pics, nighttime pics leave a bit to be desired though.  and fairly inexpensive.

Once you try them you will be hooked for life.  With that being said don't buy junk in an attempt to save a few bucks.  I use Moultrie, Bushnell and one spy point.  All three take good pics but hands down the best camera for the money is the Moultrie m80.  You can find them for $100 each and they are amazing.  The bushnell cameras are amazing too, but the are significantly more expensive.....$150 and up.  Make sure you don't place them where others will find them...they are a hot item for thieves.

Good luck and have fun.

I can't find the m80 anymore, but if you can get it for $100 or less, it's a great camera. I got my refurbished m80 for $65.

The only one I would recommend right now for a beginner is the Primos Truth Cam 35, not the new "Ultra" but the older, bigger model. Not that there's anything wrong with the Ultra 35, but it's $120. The older model can be had for $74 from Walmart online:

They offer a very reasonably priced extended warranty as well, and I would recommend that. The nice thing about buying from Walmart is it's very easy to return a camera if it quits working.
