How to paint a SAVAGE AXIS stock
« on: August 26, 2014, 07:28:10 PM »
So, I just got my daughter a youth sized Savage Axis in 7MM-08 or her 14th birthday.   She's pretty pumped.

She'd be even more pumped if I painted the stock in some pink camo pattern.......

How do I go about figuring our how to make paint stick to this plastic stock?

Kind of paint?

Stock prep?

What else?

I think I know how to make stencils for a good camo pattern, but how to make paint stick and look good?????

Opinions or advice are most welcome.

Thanks!!

Dan

Might be able to ask Savage directly. I know they sell the axis with Muddy Girl camo

I have 3 daughters, I wish they made that rifle with the muddy girl stock in stainless. This may be a good option. Not sure of the cost. http://www.northwesthydroprint.com/

Northwest hydroprint does a great job...had my rifle stock done four years ago. With heavy use it shows no wear!!! I believe it was around 80.00 dollars to have it done!

I take a very sharp blade and scrape all the mold lines smooth and wipe with a degreaser.  Krylon make spray paint for plastic(lawnchairs etc.) and they make a primer for plastic that you can use any paint over.  Spray away.
