If only German dogs could be fully utilized...was reminded of this as a result of some wounded/lost game horror stories I've been hearing of late.

That dog is a drahthaar. I have a 17 week old drahthaar.
they are used for upland, waterfowl and blood tracking.

Deutsch Kurzhaar's are bred for it as well.

Actually I know of guys who use straight up German Shorthairs for the job in the Midwest.

I know a guy that uses gsp's for hound hunting

some guy on here uses dogs for tracking wounded game in WA, can't remember his screen name but says its legal

We can not do anything in the USA that makes as good as sense as that  :dunno: :chuckle: How about the part where he said they tracked over 12,000 wounded deer shot by rifle hunters and only 3000 wounded by bowhunters  :yike:

Thought it was interesting, that with the correct paper work the dog handlers can search anyone's property for wounded animals.

I love How the happy Hunter just threw the buck over his shoulder and packed it out.  I don't think I could pull that off with a mule deer:-)
