Environmental groups Ask Governor to Restrict Lethal Wolf Controls 
 
Center for Biodiversity Submits "Wolf Lethal Removal Rule-making" Petition to Governor
 
Environmental groups on Thursday asked Gov. Jay Inslee to push for the creation of strict rules limiting when wolves can be killed in response to livestock depredations.
 
Their original petition was rejected by the Washington State Fish & Wildlife Commission. It sought to limit when the state Division of Fish and Wildlife could kill wolves. It would have also required ranchers to use nonlethal measures to protect their livestock.
 
That would have been a devastating blow to the hunting, ranching, and rural committees.  It would have tied WDFW's hands in dealing with problem wolves.  It would make wolves impossible to delist, since the animal rights groups would sue to stop it.  It would open WDFW to be sued every time they tried to kill a wolf.
 
Now they are petitioning the Governor to adopt what the Commission rejected - Ungulate populations will be destroyed if the governor adopts this petition.

You oppose the Center for Biodiversity's petition;
1) The petition will destroy social tolerance for wolves in rural communities which will delay wolf recovery;
2) The petition will open the state to costly lawsuits;
3) The petition would tie WDFW's hands in dealing with problem wolves;
4) The petition would have a severe impact on ungulate populations;
5) The petition will negatively affect hunting opportunities.

Write the Governor's Office (https://fortress.wa.gov/es/governor/) and let him know that the management of wildlife must be guided by sound and unbiased science and our state wildlife management agency, not by animal-rights organizations that thrive off of emotionally-based diatribe and propaganda, and manipulating the political landscape to further their agendas.
