Awesome bear but tricky fella...
« on: September 02, 2014, 07:43:50 AM »
Spent the weekend over east Saturday evening I spotted this bear at 800 yards uphill at a 33degree incline steep stuff spotted at 7:15 ish I busted ass to try and cut the distance in half .. Left my buddy with my spotter and my walkie to watch him I get down the draw that divides us .. Get to the bottom and there's a creek ... Shoulda been a river it was atleast 3 " ft deep  with no time to spare I rolled up my pants and trucked straight through ... Wet squishy feet I make it to an opening and glass up and see the only thing I recignized was a down tree that was near him ranged it at 360 and at 33 degree I couldn't see much the brush was to talk and blocking most of my view .. Tried to radio my buddy and to my luck dead batteries 😥 I waited 10 mins to try and catch him crossing the opening I could see but nothing and with dark comming fast I just cut my losses and headed back didn't really wanna cross the creek in the dark ... Get back to the truck and ask my friend if he was still up there .. He replys yea he's about 10 yards to the right of that big down tree .. I cried inside haha with the steep slope and tall brush just couldn't see him ...

Sunday morning we were back at first light I got to my lookout and before I even looked through my glasses I spotted him naked eye about 60 yards from where we left him Saturday night .. I got some good photos from my phone skope view good videos watched him for about 2 hours feed straight up I ranged him at 760 in the morning and he fed out of my rx 1000 range finders range so we just watched .. About 12:30 pm he started heading down the mountain at that time me and my buddy took off to close the distance and left my buddy with my spotter and FRESH BATTERIES we got half way up and were 190 yards from the downed log he was at the whole time .. We had an awesome view of everything we decided to set up there and wait . And kinda rely on the buddy down at the bottom to spot him with my spotter and radio us so we can make a move .. He was last spotted about 20 mins after we took off after him by my spotter . He was feeding into the berries that were 8"--10" tall so we lost him . So it was a waiting game at that point we sat on that lookout for 4 hours he was never seen again ... We took off down the hill at 6:30 again not wanted to cross the creek in the dark ..

Sorry for rambling .. The bear beat me this weekend but I can't complain awesome weekend got on a bear and chased a deer Monday for 3 hours closing into 50 yards .. Thanks for listening guys !

Sounds like a fun time. Keep at it.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
