Christmas Fishing with my daughter
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:23:40 AM »
My 35 year old daughter is coming to visit over Christmas and would really love to go fishing. I am not sure what is even available (I know steelhead is but I have never had any luck with them). I have only been here about 5 years and would love any advice I can get. I can go anywhere in the state as long as I have a decent chance of getting something.
Suggestions? :dunno:

You might see if anyone is making a bottom fishing run out of Westport. It'll be cold but fun, plus you'll get fish.

Do you want to go out with a guide?

Rufus Woods for huge rainbows, steelhead up in Forks, steelhead on the Snake River, if it's iced over Moses Lake or Potholes for perch and walleye.

probably use a guide. Anyone ever fish sturgeon? Would love to have her catch something she couldn't catch in Texas.
Thanks for the suggestions, lots to consider.

there was just an article in the sportsman's news about a guide on the lower Columbia for sturgeon. Dan Ponciano Guide service. 360-537-7211. I don't know anything about them but the article was impressive. mentioned over 40 fish by 2pm?

Some of the best salmon fishing of the year can be found up north in the San Juan's.  Dec-March is prime time black mouth fishing.  You might contact some of the charter companies to find out more info.  If you are coming from Seattle area look up some of the guys in Anacortes.  I have heard good things about Eagle Point charters.
