Fun Season
« on: September 21, 2014, 05:56:52 PM »
I got to hunt 11 of the first 19 days of the archery season for deer and had one of the most fun seasons that I can remember. I hunted alone for 10 days and had some great experiences. I saw bucks all but one time I went out - made some fun but not so great stalks and stand hunted next to a field that was full of whitetails. In the woods I saw some really good muley bucks hunting the fringes of the Bridge Creek fire but couldn't make a shot happen. I passed on a few whitetail bucks that were pretty small and in the end I took a muley doe at 17 yards at 6:15 in the morning of the 16th. For the next few days I hunted grouse and took 7 mostly walking closed roads early and late. On the 18th my friend paul came over and the next morning he made a perfect shot on a pretty 3x3 which went down within our sight.
Here are a few pictures - Rick

Nice deer and grouse . I know we all hunt for more than the meat or racks and so you got a nice time in the woods, away from the crowds. Would that be the Little Bridge Creek Area? I hunted up the Twisp River/Thompson Ridge/Little Bridge Creek for deer and bear over the last 30 years. I hunt modern so that area is crowded so I go up above the crowds and leave the grouse till after the deer season as we have such a short season now that I don't want to spook deer for a feather snack.
