NP.   Note that the exemption technically and stupidly seems to require that you discharge the "rifle or shotgun from upon a nonmoving motor vehicle" to be exempt from the violation:

Quote
(1) A person is guilty of unlawful possession of a loaded rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle, as defined in RCW 46.04.320 . . . , if:

     (a) The person carries, transports, conveys, possesses, or controls a rifle or shotgun in a motor vehicle . . . ; and

     (b) The rifle or shotgun contains shells or cartridges in the magazine or chamber, or is a muzzle-loading firearm that is loaded and capped or primed.

Thanks, braintrusts in government.

And no, in your first post you said nothing about whether he was hunting or not.

In your second post, you said he was looking for deer.

Looking for deer is not illegal. I'll be doing that tomorrow. And, I'll have a rifle with me.  :yike:   (For bear)

first-- its not modern season. read the regs
second-- That side of the hiway is restricted, no high powered rifles allowed. read the regs.
aaaaaand third, running up and down the powerlines on a mountain bike at 20 MPH isn't exactly beneficial when hunting. read anything..

I hope the gamie found you before you left

Bobcat,
If you are going to quote someone, make sure you are accurate, he did say it was a restricted firearm area.

Ballpark, not sure what your point is. First, I didn't quote him. And second, I never said it wasn't a firearm restriction area.  :dunno:

Regardless, there's no law that says that guy can't carry a gun- any kind of gun.

What part of what I said was "not accurate?"

Hey, do the Seahawks have a bye this week? What other games are on TV? I like the Mariners.

O.K. quote was technically incorrect to us.  If you are going to question his first post, don't cherry pick.   So him saying it is a firearm restricted area is inaccurate :dunno:  I'm going on his word.  All the other stuff, "hunting deer, racing up and down" is a distraction I believe that is the main point here.

Lets put a twist on this,How would you respond to some guy asking you questions,When they obviously have 0 authority to do so?If someone is doing illegal activity and you know it turn it in,If you dont know like this scenario why even bother the guy. Some people dont need or want people they dont know trying to tell them how they should do things.  :twocents:
You must first be honest with yourself,Until then your just lying to everyone.

Yep. Ask RTSpring how helpful an eyewitness was in helping police activity in the woods.

you can hunt bear with rifle during archery season.  However hunting in firearm restriction area would require he be using a shotgun or revolver instead of a rifle. During archery season bears may be hunted with any legal weapon until Nov 15 when the bear season ends.

I'm so confused. The guy was riding a bicycle in the woods, said he was looking for deer. That's all we know. No laws broken from the information we've been given.

I would love to see a quote of that RCW.

I read about it on Hunt-Wa so it must be true.

Actually, I wish I was good at looking up the RCW's.  Maybe Bob33 can find it?
http://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=77.15.460

   (4) This section does not apply if the person:

   (c) Discharges the rifle or shotgun from upon a nonmoving motor vehicle, as long as the engine is turned off and the motor vehicle is not parked on or beside the maintained portion of a public road, except as authorized by the commission by rule. This subsection (4)(c) does not apply to off-road vehicles, which are unlawful to use for hunting under RCW 46.09.480, unless the person has a department permit issued under RCW 77.32.237.
