Taneum 336 65+ cow tag
« on: June 28, 2014, 08:29:29 AM »
Retired buddy of mine pulled the 65+ cow tag.  He's planning on going the week after General closes.  Anyone done that before?  Just curious how long it takes the herd to settle after General ends.

I would skip the first week too if I had that permit. With only 40 other hunters in the unit, he will have a much more enjoyable hunt if nothing else. There's more potential for snow, which is what would really help, IMO. If it snows enough it could push the elk to the east end of the unit where they're more accessible. Should be a fun hunt, but still could be tough if there's no snow.

Did some scouting with him over the last month.  Both east end (Taneum Rd) and the west end (south/SW of Lake Easton).  Like the relative solitude of the west side of the unit, but it's a little more time-consuming if you're not in the Wenatchee NF....like trying to stay on WDFW property.
