I have a 77 year old buddy that has this old flintlock pistol. He has asked me to sell it for him as he would rather have the cash. I took some cell phone pics of it and asked around but thought I'd throw it out to the peanut gallery here.

Document it fully showing all marks, numbers ect and contact Rock island auctions. They specialize in this kind of stuff. They will get back to you quick and will even offer to auction it for you.

Looks French. Colonial American gunsmiths made some ornate guns, but nothing as fancy as that. The French fought on our side during the Revolutionary War. That's probably how it got here.... If only that gun could talk!
