Ken at Skull Mountain pulled out something disgusting from my skull... he had a 1.5 inch long larvae living in his sinuses... looked it up and it appears to be a sheep bot larvae.. usually they live in their larval form in domestic and bighorn sheep... couldn't find any literature on them using moose as hosts. HOW DISGUSTING!  :o I can't imagine having a critter living in my nasal cavity.

Larvae sounds nasty. Your skull turned out very nice and will look cool on the wall.

Not yet.. I harvested it on October 3rd so the official measurement would have to be after December 3rd anyways... if I decide to submit him for the muzzleloader record, to the best of my knowledge he'll take it...  :dunno:

As soon as I have a wall to hang it on...  :chuckle: Dang this nomadic lifestyle!

Gotcha.. I have the record book from a few years ago so he isn't in that one. :) before drying I think I had him beat on width (49) but he definitely has more points so I bet you're right. I thought he took his archery for some reason. :)

In any case.. Whatever he scores he's a trophy to me. :) especially coming from the unit I drew AND having taken his photo the day prior and then calling him in.. I'll treasure him for a lifetime.

Thanks Bullblaster and BREW. I had a ton of fun with that hunt, and solidified a lifetime friendship. I couldn't be more fortunate.

I'm with Coach, moose euros are awesome! That's an amazing trophy regardless of record book placement. Glad to hear your backcountry hunt for bucks was a success. Congratz.
