Muzzy sights?
« on: October 12, 2014, 10:48:48 PM »
What is everyone using for sights? Im looking to upgrade and wanting to see what everyone is using. Im thinking of going to a peep. Currently I have a T/C BlackDiamond with the fiberoptic sights it came with..the fiberoptics seem a little large and I would like to find smaller diameter ones or any other options that are out there. Thanks

I have a Williams rear peep and stock fiber front on my Elkhorn. seems to work good but after this year I plan on replacing the front.

I have the Williams peep on my Knight and love it!

My muzzy zero is at 200 yards, center of fiber optic.  At 100 yards the point of impact is at the top of the front fiber optic.

I have the small insert in the peep, when it is too dark, I unscrew it and use the large hole as a ghost ring (how I shot my elk this year...too dark to see in the timber)

Help me understand, zero at 200yds, 100yds is a 6 olock hold?  So at 200yds you are covering the target, correct?

What load are you shooting, seems very flat?

I upgraded my BlackDiamond to the TruGlo Ghost ring.  Really didn't like the factory sights and found these very easy to use.

Like most that have replied... I use a Williams FP peep and Williams Fire Sight with hood on the front... With the hood when you look through the peep it sorta looks like you a looking through a 1X scope..

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

Marking this topic.  I'm using stock Williams fiber optic sights.  They are not fine enough for me.  Looking for a change before next hunting season.  Too many missed opportunities.

I found that a "finer" fiber optic was too dim at first shooting time.  The .060 front sight does cover about 15" at 200(!) yards, but I can see it at shooting time in deep timber.  Most shots are closer.

My elk this year was 68 yards, and I had removed the rear peep insert to see, because it was too dark in the timber.

thanks for replies!

My issue is the front sight is to big! I can see my tiny .019 bow sights just fine in low light. Even a .029 would be nice

My williams site are so big I have trouble at 100 yards.  My main problem is I need reading glasses to see the sights, but I can't hunt with them on.  I use my other glasses for that.  So how do you shoot open sights with bifocals?  Does it help?  That front site gets a lot bigger when it's blurry...
