I have a deer dilemma...
« on: October 16, 2014, 08:44:05 AM »
Been watching this little buck for an hour. He's bedded about 100 yards from me. He's a great meat buck and I wouldn't hesitate to shoot him on the last day.

But today is my first day of 4 to hunt. I don't want it to be over.

On the other hand I have a one year old at home and a cow tag to fill next week...

What say you?
what in the wild wild world of sports???

Only four days to hunt. Baby at home. Never pass an animal the first day you'd shoot on the last. Cow tag to fill.

If I had the shot, its early enough in the morning, animal is clearly at ease..........SHOOT IT!

you have a cow tag at home, a 1 year old at home, and you have 4 days, dont shoot it and maybe you could see something better maybe not, i wouldnt take my chances i would be gutting it by now if i was only givin 4 days to hunt and i had a 1 year old and a cow tag

my say is shoot it and start gutting, put some meat in the freezer and have some good dinner

Hmmmmm...?

If I'm not in my neighborhood, ie. traveling to hunt, I would probably take the first legal one I had a good shot at.  Unless, history has shown me lots of legal animals in the area, though the other circumstances would probably get me to pull the trigger and earn some bonus hubby points by coming back early and successful.

Dilemma solved.

I decided to sneak up and see what happened. 40 yards and still no clue. I liked the eyeguards!

Broke my rule about neck shots but he must have moved. Shot right in the face.

I hope one like that lets me get within 40 yards during late archery.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

No second guesses from me. nice buck.
