Hunting up near colville!
« on: October 02, 2014, 05:52:04 PM »
I'm working up near colville right now and I'm from the west side of the mountains and not very familiar with any good hunting dirt around here. I'm aware of the colville national forest but was told there's alot of private surrounding it and the roads that led up in there. Just curious if anyone had any insight before I drove around burning fuel looking for a decent trail head. Thanks!

What are you hunting for ? There is a ton of national forest roads over there and it get's hit really hard. Close to Spokane. But, it only takes one time to be lucky.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Should be able to get a map of the cnf   plenty of game if your willing to do the work
https://www.howlforwildlife.org/take_action  It takes 10 seconds and it’s free. To easy to make an excuse not to make your voice heard!!!!!!

If your hunting whitetail on public land there get into some timber with some sign and still hunt it. Move slower than you have ever before. There are some good bucks to be had.
Absolutely It took me years to figure out how to still hunt whitetail. I have moved in on these guys many times after learning how to move around super slow. I mean slow to the point of losing my balance.

Bone is right, you can hit the Colville-Tiger rd, 20 I think, and jump off anywhere in there to find good hunting or hit the highline rd over by the Pend Orielle river and follow it north to Metaline Falls. Always deer crossing in there.

Make sure you get a Reservation hunting permit... you might wander onto tribal grounds....
if you are close that is.

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

As was stated before..the Tiger highway 20 east out of Colville is a great place to jump off.

There  is an orv offload area near the top..north side of the highway..if it is still there..that road takes you to some awesome hunting areas.

Just be aware of where you are parked as it is a long way to anything if you jump off the wrong side of Radar dome

At least that is what we called it. ..used to be a paved road all the way to the top of the mountain to an old airforce radar installation.

If anyone is at beaver lodge...a little further east..stop and buy something.

Great fishing there at lake Gillette...Just sayin.

HAve fun and good luck

Get yourself a Colville Forest map at the USFS office on the south end of town, tons of public land and there are deer on every square mile of it, you've still got time to scout an area.

Started hunting with a good buddy from Deer Park. He taught me how to hunt whitetail. Way different than blacktail or mulies. His biggest thing was it will up close and personal....if you can hear yourself walking....you're being to noisy!!!
Good luck!
Born to hunt, forced to work. Good thing I like my job!
