Huckleberry Wolves
« on: October 20, 2014, 01:51:30 PM »
My nephew was hunting near my house north of Hunters this past week and reported seeing 5 wolves on the beach of Lake Roosevelt.  The spot he saw them was about 4 miles north of Hunters, he had no camera with him and reported they were about 500 yards away playing on the beach.  He thought they were coyotes until he put his scope on them and then he said he could plainly see they were wolves.  I'm guessing they must be part of the Huckleberry pack, but that's the first time any of us in the area have seen them right down around the lake.  I've got a feeling that pack is a lot bigger than they're thinking it is and probably more than one pack in the area. Couple of other hunters we spoke to reported seeing them above Fruitland on the same day, that's a long distance trot for the same pack.

Someone on here posted an article about a city guy who went to spend the night in his family's cabin above the river just out of hunters. It was Feb. of last year when we had that cold snap and he got froze out and went home. As he was walking to his car he was chased by a pack of wolves and just made it to his car in time. Also, someone brought up at the wolf meeting in Colville that a guy out of hunters was razing Hybrids and went out of business and let his hybrid wolves go. This person said the WDFW knew about it and has done nothing. :dunno:

I think there is a pack that stays more north of the other huckleberry pack.?? Lots of reports of sightings and conflicts with animals north of where the huckleberry pack usually hangs out.
