Here's my mountain rifle.  Under 8lbs loaded to hunt. I topped it with a zeiss 2-8×32 with turrets. I don't have pa so I need to pay attention on the long pokes, but it has made a good number of 7-900yd hits.

Don't let anyone BS you into needing a 90mm 40 power scope on a mountain gun. Buy QUALITY clear, sharp and REPEATABLE optics. ......and lots of ammo.

Nightforce is tough as a hammer and typically super repeatable, but a zeiss, s&b or hensoldt will leave it in the dust optically.

My most expensive scope is my Zeiss on my Stainless Rem 700 300 RUM. I have $1500 into that gun. It only has an over-molded Hogue stock, Tactical Bolt Knob, Shrewd Brake, DEDNUTZ scope mount and a lighter trigger adjustment. .
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Like I said if I had money to burn eliminator comes to mind. Since I don't, I'll stick with my Nikon M-223 3x12x42 Nikoplex. I almost bit a hole in my lip shelling out the $450 +100 or so for the mount. The most money I've spent on a scope. I have to say I have no regrets. For me it's a perfect fit  :twocents:
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

what rifle and caliber is he shooting?

Really need this info. Also need the bullet he intends to use, and also it's expected muzzle velocity.

I've got a VX6 4-24 coming for my 6.5, but I'm starting to wonder if I should send it back and just get a nightforce. My dad has the same scope and its a sweet scope, just not sure which I'd be better off with, I really like the high magnification, but we've experienced some issues with my dads recently with parallax adjustment. I must be new, I had no idea it would have such an effect on group sizes down range. I'm really on the fence

It's going to be a Remington 700 LR chambered for .300 RUM, 180 grain Accubonds
Duck Buster
Mule Deer Hunter
Turkey Camp Cook

When you adjust the parallax on Leupold scopes, you adjust it to infinity and then back until it comes into focus. This is the procedure that Leupold recommends. Not sure if that's how you're doing it or not but it might help.
