First Elk

Figure I would show off my first Elk harvest, even though it isn't much compared to some of the monsters on here. It was spike only in my area, so I have nothing at all to complain about. And, it was an hour into my first Elk hunt on opening day! No other feeling like it. I got my first buck last November during late hunt, which was my first time deer hunting as well. Hopefully I will get one next week in the same area!

I like to think so! I have noticed though that the more work you put in the more likely you are to get one. I have some friends who have been hunting for years who have not got anything, but they wander roads the whole time. When I got this thing, I had been walking straight up hill for an hour hoping to get to a spot where nobody was at. The incline behind me in this pic is pretty much what I was hoofing up the whole time! Shot it at about 830am and didn't finish packing it out until 530.

I posted the pic in the Deer section, but I will throw it here for viewing pleasure!
