Remington 700 trigger recall

I sent 2 in...took about 2-3 months.  My trigger seems stiffer after I got my gun back (its the xmp adjustable and it seems the lower end adjustment doesn't go as low as it did prior to repair)...so now I am thinking I may just put a timney trigger in anyways

Mine took over 3 months, and they scuffed up my gun.
I was indeed PO'd, have not shot it in yet as now I am having troubles with scope remounting and Leupold magnification dial not wanting to turn properly
I will have to also get new rings most likely a change from vertical to horizontal

Did you guys send it to Remington, or to one of their authorized warranty centers? (If I'm not mistake that was one of the options)

I would just spend the money and buy a 510 timney and put it in. They are much better triggers I have done that to the last 2 700's I have bought. Even though only 1 was under recall.

Timney 510 runs right about $115 IIRC from when I got mine a few months back. Install is only 2 drift pins after taking the action out of the stock, so maybe 10 minutes.

Oh and like said it's a very easy drop in fit. All you need is a punch 1/16" or 1/8" depending on your bolt release spacing and a hammer. You slide the 2 slave pins out. not all the way just enough to drop the factory trigger. Then line up the timney and hammer the 2 pins back into place. The bolt relase you might have to tweak a little. Just use needle nose pillars tell it moves the release up and down properly. Really easy and about 10 mins. Just make sure you don't drive the pins in to far to where you relase the bolt stop spring or pound the other in to far to lock up the bolt release. There is a few videos out there you can watch as well if you would like to see it done first.

The best place for a stock Remington trigger is the garbage.  Drop a Timney in there and you will be very happy.

It's very easy, just watch out for the 2 things I posted above. If you side the front pin in to far then it pushed against the bolt release and it won't move. Simple fix, just tap it back out until it moves freely. On the back pin if you tap it out to far the bolt stop spring and plate will come off. Just line then back up and start the pin back in. Then put the drop in trigger in place and hammer the pin back in.

I've disassembled AND reassembled several guns recently with the help of YouTube.

It used to be the disassembly part was easy. I would do that and get the gun nice and clean, but to put it all back together properly- well, that didn't always go so well. 

But with YouTube, I'd tackle almost anything. Isn't technology great?

Also don't you have too remove your scope and rings too send it back? And when you get it back you still have a marginal trigger at best. Watch the documentary "remington under fire" and it's a no brainier.

I just called Remington about my 700 which turns out is affected by the recall.  They advised there are no Authorized Service Centers in Washington, and the nearest one is in Portland.  The shop in Portland can do the work same day.  Bring it to them in the morning, walk out with it in the afternoon.  If you can manage the drive down, NO SHIPPING necessary.  Plus, tax free shopping!  Why hassle with sending back east?

For the gas money to drive to Portland, you can drop in an aftermarket trigger and be way better off.  Even fixed, the Remmy trigger is way, way too heavy and a bit on the mushy side.

You may think I am crazy, but you will trim probably 25% off your group size (or more) by going with a crisp trigger in the 4# range.
