2014 late muzzy season muley
« on: November 20, 2014, 04:12:14 PM »
Well we got to the piece of land I wanted to hunt this morning a little late, actually alot. It was broad daylight out. I didn't expect the roads to be pure ice! I guess I should have looked at the weather. After driving 30 in a 70 and passing multiple wrecks we got to the exit.  Then even slower going the rest of the way.

We arrived at the land I have been researching on the go hunt site and had all mapped out. We immediately see some does from the truck. We glass them and see there are no bucks. We figure out our game plan and head up the hill. The wind was perfect for where we wanted to head. Start hiking the brim of the draw when I notice Se deer feeding on the edge of the field. One was running all around I figured it had to be a bick. Threw up the binos and sure thing it was a little 3x3 chasing a doe. I didn't really want to shoot him bit then noticed another deer come out of the draw. Looked at him he was much bigger, still not huge but a nice deer, I could count 4pts on one side. I decided to sneak down below them to swing around and pop out about 100yds from them at their level.  When I got to where I wanted to be the bucks had run that doe all over and we're about 150 yds. I looked at him again and said he'll do! Set up the shooting sticks and waited for him to stop chasing the doe, and to not have the other buck behind him. Once he did, KABOOM! He jumped up, lunged forward and rand down the canyon about 65yds and laid down. I walked over and there he was dead. Average 3x4 with an eyeguard on the 3pt. Side. The traditions vortek is getting a workout this year, and I have a 2nd doe tag that opens next tuesday! Meat in the freezer!

Way to go, Mike. Congrats on some good eats.
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
