PA Shooter/Domestic Violence/I-594 Parallels
« on: December 15, 2014, 01:52:29 PM »
You have no doubt heard, by now, of the PA shooter.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/dead-montgomery-county-pennsylvania-shootings-sources/story?id=27606093

Quote
Officials identified the suspect [in an overnight shooting spree that left six people dead and wounded another] as 35-year-old Bradley William Stone of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, adding that all of the victims at three separate locations in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, are related to Stone.

. . .

Matthew Schafte, who told ABC News that he's known Stone for 20-plus years, says he broke down in tears when he heard about the shootings.

"I would describe him as a laid back guy -- loving his family, loving his country. I know he had issues with his children over a custody battle or something," he said. "A decorated veteran, who would do anything for his country, anything for anybody."

"I just broke down in tears. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe it, because this isn't the Brad that I know."

"A couple of months ago, I was hanging out with him, we sat down and had a drink. We were just talking about old times, how everybody was doing, and he told me he was going through some things with his kids, but that's about it."

Seems to be a domestic violence related situation.

Also, note the similarity between I-594 and PA's laws on private sales and transfers, which appears to be as strict or even more strict than I-594.

What is unclear is whether PA's checks apply to both handguns and long guns (the law appears to reference firearms whereas PAFOA makes a distinction on handguns).

However, as this story permeates through various discussions and news stories, don't let those who promised that I-594 would prevent such violent attacks as this one in PA off the hook.

They lied.  They will lie again.  And law abiding gun owners will lose more liberty for empty promises.

Yeah, sounds like if they should have enforced existing laws.  According to various news reports, this guy was known to be unstable and had been threatening to kill the ex wife for over a year.  Another unenforced law would do no good.

wow I'm sure antis will have  field day with him being an ex marine.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
