Vashon Island Help
« on: December 23, 2008, 06:16:53 AM »
Does anyone know of anyone that will let you hunt their property on Vashon. I wan't to get my brother in law his first deer before he moves to Utah next month, so I can show him how to field dress and cut/wrap. I know of the public land on Maury, which i've hunted numorous times, but I wan't a backup plan as well. Rumor has it, the sportsman club has a list of landowners that are willing to let you hunt, but they won't write me or call me back. Anything helps....thanks in advance.....

There is public land to the west across from the cemetary on Vashon.  I've hunted it a couple time but with no luck.  Try to contact Misty Isle Farms, I heard they let a few on but it is probably too late.  It is a tuff island to hunt with a lot of animal lovers on it.  Good luck, I've seen some dandies on Vashon.

My brother in law and I went to Maury Island yesterday. We headed for the last chunk of public land on the island, only to find brand new "no hunting" signs everywhere. There was a king county ordinance noted at the bottom of the signs. I'm pissed, these deer on the island are sick, and dying of disease in numbers. I've seen serious declines the last 3 years. So I guess all the tree huggin liberals on the island, that must of had something to do with this would rather see "their deer" suffer. I've had the cops called on me before last time I was there. Some idiot called, and said I was chasing deer through the park with a pistol. The sheriff stopped my only to find out I had no pistol, only my bow, and infact I'd never even been to the park he was talking about. He said he get's false calls from locals complaining about hunters all the time, and told me he hopes I shoot all the deer on the island. He was nice, and only doing his job, but man I couldn't do his job, on that p.o.s island. Sorry to rant, I'm just pissed, and it's killing me to see flaming liberals eat away my rights day in, and day out!

You can't really piss & moan about it. You knew where you were going & what the people there think of hunting. No suprise if you ask me.

Yeah I know, I just felt like letting off a little steam, while letting people know not to waste their time there.

You may want to double check on those signs....... there are some you can buy anywhere and they do quote various ordinances.  Posting signs is a tactic promoted on lots of animal rights sites, part of their whole terrorism program.

False reporting is also a crime. Cops can bust those who make false claims of what they saw you do....

The ordinance listed was 6798. I went to King counties website, and couldn't find any exact matches as to what this ordinance is.
