Shipping ammo from Washington to Oklahoma
« on: February 03, 2015, 11:53:34 AM »
I am trying to find information on what I need (or what I need my wife to do) to ship my rifle and handgun ammunition from Washington state to Oklahoma?
Do I need to ship through a dealer?
I have not had much luck finding a good source of information on ammunition shipping state to state.

Ship it through UPS (Ground)just like any other package. It just requires a " ORM-D " marking/tag. Preferably on the top near the shipping label.

This is how I've done it many times.

I will look it up, but I believe ORM-D has to be placed on multiple sides and has to be in a certain size print.  I will look and post a link soon.

Shipped truck loads of ammo literally! One tag on the top, 1"x2" sticker on the top.

Thanks everyone!
You guys are awesome!

The movers took all the ammo out of my safe, because it was "unsafe" WTH!
How much safer can you be then locked up in a rifle safe?
This was totally stressing my wife out because now she has to ship a lot of ammo. Funny part was when the guy pulled all the boxes out all the movers stopped and stare at the quantity. She also did not realize how much was in one of the safes. I jokingly told her to throw it in a few of those "if it fits, it ships" boxes. She said, "you have got to be kidding, it would take a hundred boxes"!
Hey a man has to be prepared, right?
This is going to be expensive ammo by the time I get it shipped

Actually not a bad idea.  You are gonna take a hit either way.  Keep the hard to find stuff and sell the common ammo.  May save you a ton of money.   :dunno:

Believe me I would have if I had thought about it. I am already in OKC, my wife would have to deal with it. After what I put her through getting rid of all the lumber I had, I don't have the heart to make her deal with it.

I have about 20 boxes of .243 wssm. Probably 4 times that in .300 win mag, and 7 mm mag. Quite a few boxes of 16 gauge and 12 gauge, and probably 1000 plus .40 cal rounds.
And some .45, .22 👀

When it was packed neatly it took up about 1/3 (from the bottom up) of the 24 gun safe space.
Honestly never felt like enough, lol

I'm sure we (Hunt WA) interested parties could make it easy. I'd be down for some .45 and 7mag, if brand and price was right.
