Walleye trip to Tri Cities
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:46:42 PM »
How's the fishing down there?  I'm trying to decide which weekend to go down. 21st or the 28th.
What yall think would be the best bet for hitting the pre spawn mammas?

I heard about an 18.5lber this weekend that was C n R'd recently. I'd pick the weekend that has the most favorable weather and get out there! Good Luck! Post a report when you get back.

New moon on the 18th, so if I had to pick on it would be the 21st.

I hope the weather holds. I froze the last few years!

I need to get out there and learn how to catch them this time of year. I've only caught them during the summer.

Are these spring fish mostly caught on jigs or spinner rigs? I assume they are holding in deeper water.

We've caught big ones both ways. It's a matter of hitting the water temp just right from my experiences.  Been years we spent a whole weekend only to find the good eater males, which isn't a bad thing, and years we catch absolutely nothing in a weekend.
I'm not a expert at it by any means but we do pretty good with jigs and spinners.

If u can catch them in the summer you can catch them now. Just gotta look around to find the fish and trust your fish finder.

New moon on the 18th, so if I had to pick on it would be the 21st.

Farmer almanac says the "Good Fishing Days" are the 18th & 19th evenings.
I have this app on my phone and it works pretty good on the days it says and I go fishing.

Any one know what the water temp is running down there? Or where I can look it up?

My buddy, who does very well on big females, runs crank baits for 20-30 ft deep for the pre spawn females. Look for underwater humps

If anyone fishes down there this weekend, let me know.  I'm headed over next weekend.

I hear ya  :)
we are gonna give it a try, got some unexpected boat issues.  Damn trailer tires have been out of whack and didn't notice.  They are wearing out on the inside. My axle must be off.
