Had a friend fish 2 weeks before you and gave close to the same report. Caught some but slow, He did catch a monster he turned back. He chose not to enter it in the derby.

I use a 4/0 circle hook,24inches 30lb leader,with a 1/2 ounce barrel sinker above a swivel so the sinker slides,the pole I use is a 11ft noodle rod with 10 lb test,its a blast...fresh cut bait
