Food plot question
« on: December 31, 2008, 01:15:24 PM »
Have recently got some property south of colville in addy. We have got a ton of turkeys and quite a few whitetails on it. Im gunna haul the tractor over this spring and start, my question is if anyone has planted food plots for wt's in that or a similar climate and had good luck? weve got a year round creek in the bottom that keeps about 40 of the acres moist even through the summer. I know the best thing to do is take ph samples and all of that noise, but i think im just gunna wing it......Any suggestions??? Thanks for any input!

I saw today at the bargain cave at Cabelas they have some ph testing kits for the "do it yourself guy" that were on about $7. If you are going to the effort why not get the best possible return on your investment. I have the contact info for the NWTF regional biologist if you would like it feel free to PM me and I will get it to you. I met him a couple years ago and he seemed like a pretty good guy so I kept his card as I too hope to do what you are sometime. Good luck.

Blacktail Specialties in Castle Rock, WA, can fix you up with seed that works in NW. Google them to get contact info.
