I have the 6" and it is extremely accurate. It is not what I would get as a conceal. It's fairly big.

I used to have both the 66 and the 686, both 6" and both Stainless.
I still have the 686, and love it !

I ordered my 6" 686 a long time ago, it took 6 months to get to me from S&W. I had a trigger job done by a fabulous gun smith who carried a 6" 686 thrown in the back of his pants until the day he died of a heart attack.  I can shoot a pepper popper 6 times with it before it hits the ground.  I also have a 4" with an interesting history.  Both well before pre-locks and +'s, the old ones sure are something.

I have a 4" dash3, a 6" 386XL(that's the lightweight Scandium alloy version) and had a 3" Talo Custom.
All 3 have been fantastic and needed nothing in terms of tuning or trigger work.
I would love for SW to produce a 5" version of the 386.
Drawing the 6" barrel from a holster is a loooonnng process!
