Coyote Madness VIII ideas
« on: March 02, 2015, 07:15:20 AM »
I just wanted to throw some ideas out there for next year that I think would be better.

Dates
Oct-Jan 31

Point Scoring:
1.  West Side Coyote - 3 pts
2.  East side Coyote - 1 pt
3.  Multipliers: Muzzleloader - points x 1.5, 2
     Compound Bow - points x 3, 5
     Traditional Bow - points x 5 10

I have no idea what it would take to change the rules or if WDFW would be against a coyote contest during modern deer.  As far as points go, it seems pretty clear that the multipliers aren't enough of an incentive for guys to go after.  I do believe that if I were to try and use my bow, I'd bust at least 3 dogs before I ever killed one.  (BTW, I've never killed one with a bow on a stand.  I have tried to lip squeak a few in while deer hunting but can never seem to draw my bow without being busted)

If some of these changes are possible and if you guys have any other ideas, feel free to add to the wish list

I never had any of my dogs counted. Making a change where dogs are counted would be nice.

i agree. There are many places in EWa that are just as thick and difficult to hunt as the west side.     Even some of the sage brush areas I hunt are 5'-7' tall sage brush. Some areas your doing good to see 5' at the dogs level.   I like the point increase for archery gear.

Just for a wild card I'd like to see white tipped tails an extra point. It's not very common trait and could add a fun twist to it.

:yeah:  I like all of these ideas and don't think WDFW should have issues if we want to make these changes.

I would like to see pistol kills on the board for +2. I know it would be impossible to tell by a pic as to causeo f death, but this hole thing is on the honor system anyway. Just think it would be a cool extra. :twocents:
