Unit 121 Huckleberry Bear permit drawn. Technique ideas requested.

I got drawn for the Spring Bear permit for Huckleberry unit 121.  Was wondering if there are any other permit winners that want to join up and also looking for new info on good areas.  I have my old whitetail areas that hold bear as well but I am looking for remote ATV accessable stuff with better glassing opportunities.  Also I have a question about spring bear hunting.  Since my bear hunting success has been luck during fall deer season stumbling on a pair of bears eating on a gut pile.  Does predator calling work for spring bear or is it best just to spot and stalk?

IMO predator calling works even better in the spring.  Make like an injured deer or elk calf and they will come in drooling.  Make sure you call non-stop and stay on stand for at least 45 min to an hour.

P.S.  Can you even use this in the same sentence?    " remote ATV accessable stuff"

Good point @Machias.  It is a silly sounding statement.  But as I just had both hips replaced last November/December I was hoping to find a general are that is away from farm houses, etc.  Way too much DNR/State land is locked up by private property so if you dont know any land owners to get permission to access it through you are screwed.  I know of some state land that is accessable but it is hit hard by road hunters, etc. and too close to local populations.  I do plan on predator calling.  It is too bad cougar season is closed because there are alot of cats in 121 and a good chance of calling one in and not being able to take it down unless it chews on ya first.

@wheels.  There are some areas in 121 that you can get around with ATVs but I only know of a few that I have hunted for whitetail.

Make sure your ATV is up-to-date with your stickers and tabs if it's a WATV. Call the Colville national Forest Office in Colville and buy a map and have them send you a Motor Vehicle Use map for your specific area you want to hunt. I think the have a Southeast, Northeast, Southwest and Northwest area maps. I think you'll need a Southeast Map. My SW map doesn't go over to the Huckleberry unit.

Not silly at all I was just messing with you.  I know what you are looking for.  LOTS of that country up there that fits that bill south of Springdale-Hunters Road at the top of the pass before you head down towards Fruitland.
