Hello, not trying to derail your thread but I think there is one exactly like this already? Check in the elk section , there is a bunch of info or opinions on it.  If your new to elk hunting,basically  the west side you don't have to wait for permits to kill big bulls, the east side is easier to hunt but for the most part you are stuck hunting spikes if you don't draw a special permit. East, spike over the counter.

no prob!  You'll find plenty of opinions and help on this site.  When the regs come out and it's special permit time, I'm sure you will have more questions, just ask!! It can be confusing to newbie's  :chuckle:

A lot easier to find elk in the west. The east side sucks
