Ruger LCP vs. Taurus Curve
« on: March 23, 2015, 10:35:49 AM »
So I’ll start out by saying I love the IDEA of a pocket carry gun…Just normally the execution sucks. The only one I have ever found that I like is the S&W J frames. I did have an LCP for a short while but promptly got rid of it. Again concept was great; it hid well, was great in the summer, and even though it’s the bottom of the list for me as far a defense is concerned it did shoot a .380. but in the end it became more novel than useful.

However I was watching some coverage of the 2015 shot show and saw a couple things that peaked my interest. One was the new Ruger LCP Custom. Updated trigger, sights, and a little more weight up front (now they also have extended mags for a little more grip as well as capacity). The other was the Taurus Curve. I love the integrated light/laser, the belt clip and even the trigger guard it comes with.

I would like to shoot both, maybe give the Ruger another shot. However I am worried Ill be set up for disappointment yet again. As far as the Ruger you can polish a turd and it can still be a turd. And as far as Taurus they had some QC issues a while back and I don’t like the Mag disconnect “safety” they don’t belong on defensive guns…EVER (but maybe by the time I get around to buying one they will offer one without).

What are your guy’s thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

Look at a smith and wesson shield instead. I bought a lcp and carried it couple of years but its just not that much fun to shoot. You can buy a shield for a little more then the lcp.

Try them before you buy.

Just got a G26 actually and so far I like it. I have looked at the shields. A buddy of mine has one and its almost just too big for pocket, but only just.

The Taurus curve is interesting. Curved for better body contour and concealment. Will have to test one when I can find a range that has one to test.

Let us know! I'm curious for sure. I was also at NW armory today and checked out S&W bodyguards too.
