Man I love to see those NE Bulls but hate to see them posted on here. Because I'm selfish  :chuckle: :chuckle:. I usually hunt up in the NE corner but I drew a tag this year so I won't be up in the jungle, The thing I like most about the area is the lack of hunters during the archery  season. It is by no means an easy hunt. The elk herds are small in numbers but to those that have spent time learning the area it can be a lot of fun. Guns and Roses says it best, " Your in the Elk Jungle Baby Your Gonna Die"!!!! I added the Elk part. Hope you cut some hair on those big bad boys!!!

Can't tell from the pics where the water is coming from? We have very similar water springs we hunt and they can have elk coming to them year round. I have watched elk very close suck water out of the smallest little pudle you can imagine. I would either dig it out with a shovel or a pick to improve on the source or if its coming out of a side hill, haul in a stick of 1" galvanized pipe with a sledge hammer and work it into the ground to get better flow. Make sure your location GPS is off going in and out of your hot spot. You don't want anybody finding this honey hole. Either put up a tree stand or a ground blind? Sit there the whole season. Do not do any calling. I believe the elk will come...... Elk need water twice a day or more depending on activity level. Good luck!

Nice Bulls.   If you have water, they will be there.

Agreed.  As long as the cows stay put, and they have water, I'd hunt right there.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
