Volunteer Projects from an RMEF email
« on: April 09, 2015, 11:38:14 PM »
I just got this in an email today:

Quote
April 11, Very short notice

A land owner in the Smith Creek area of Pacific county has gotten behind in fence repairs.  His Wife requested help this weekend.  A MH applicant is leading this effort.  If you are available to assist please contact Don LeVering at (360) 581-6627 for more information and directions.

There will be a sign up sheet on site for logging hours.   Please make sure you’re a registered on CERVIS (http://wdfw.wa.gov/about/volunteer/) Hours for this project will be tracked under the North River Valley Wildlife conflict service project.

April 18, Short notice

Operation Clean Sweep 2015

Green Diamond is holding their annual volunteer clean up on Saturday April 18th.

Pickups and trailers are welcome, shovel s and rakes also, but not absolutely necessary.  Gloves and garbage bags provide.

Meet at 8:00am at the Camp One sort yard.  Sign in and safety briefing before deployment.

Direction: The physical address for “Camp One” is West 41 Hanks Lake Road in Shelton.  Most people with google etc can find it that way. It is also known as the Green Diamond Sorting yard.  It is approximately 5 miles west from SR 101.  Folks would take the Shelton City Center/Matlock exit off of SR 101. This is also the second Shelton exit off of SR 101 no matter if you are north of south bound on SR 101, it is the second exit. After going approximately 5 miles to the west, you will see the large shop and log yard on the right. Hanks Lake road is the first entrance to the log yard/shop and will be on the right.

To track you hours register for this project in CERVIS.  An easy way to find the event is to use the advanced search feature.  Use the “search for events with this keyword” feature.  Enter “Clean Sweep”.

You can enter your hours on your own or contact me and I will enter for you.  GD will provide me a sign in list so please write “MH” clearly next to your name so I can verify you attended.

Note from the WDFW representative:  Last year I received several comments about Green Diamonds fee access program.  Please keep them to yourself. I understand people’s frustration with this.  Many of the comments I received were unprofessional and did not represent the Master Hunter program well.   Green Diamond has many thousands of acres that are open to free public access.  This is a good way to say thank you and perhaps keep those lands open for free passive recreational activities in the future.

April 25 & 26, Still kind of short notice

EITW Matheny Habitat Project.

This is a long term service project with several events per year.  Please go to http://www.eyesinthewoods.org/index.php/en/event-calendar  for more information and to register.

So we pay $250 to access 'their' land and they still expect us to volunteer to clean up the mess? Most of the mess I see on Green Diamond is from the very people (pickers, thinners, and fallers) they hire to do work for them. How about a big KMA for Green Diamond.
