Karta River Fishing in end of July

My college buddies are going to Alaska POW Island in the end of July for our 40th Birthdays. My friends family bought the Karta Lodge, near Kasaan, Ak. I've never been to Alaska and I know Coho should be running this time of year. I've read some things online about the Karta River. We plan on bottom fishing, crabbing and generally living off the land.
Has anyone been to Prince of Wales Island. I like to fly fish too. I'm thinking 8wt floating and shoot head line.
What gear should I bring?
