I would imagine he will get off on the illegal hunting. You can kill wildlife with a few exceptions in the act of depredation. They will have to prove he was not protecting his property.
The wastage charge though I think he will lose on.

My dad killed a bear out of season that was into the bee hives. He called WDFW and they came out and took the bear. Never was a problem. Bear and deer are both game animals. Only difference is the guy didn't call WDFW.

While I don't condone what he did how many of you would shoot a coon in your yard or a bunch of them if they were giving you problems and never report it? Deer and coon are both game animals.

I wish he would have reached out to the WDFW....it seems they could have issued him some depredation hunts or something. I know some farmers that have told me to shoot a couple of deer each.....when we would get access to their property..we would never do that...I always thought they were joking with us...but maybe not :dunno: :dunno:

They were not joking, I run across that all the time both while securing hunting access and in casual conversation with many farmers.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

I second this!  I have been asked by several to remove them all.  I just let them know we can only take 1 per person per license.  Any additional would require permits from WDFW.  My wife's uncle is trying to get depredation tags issued for his farm.  The deer work over his apple trees pretty good.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Yeah, I know a few people absolutely fed up with deer.  They ask me to shoot them all, but I only have one tag.  The deer multiply so fast one tag does nothing.  The people are old enough to not need hunter ed, so it would be easy enough to just have them get a tag and shoot a deer too.  But they never do it.  I've even given them some phone numbers for other hunters and even local tribes since they get I think seven tags each.  But, I don't think that they ever call them either.

I think he did call CNW, but they had to call the WDFW, to see how much CNW would have to DONATE to WDFW, not to do anything about it.
They're still waiting for a response call from 4 years ago.   Something to do with an Enviromental Impact Statement... :chuckle:
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
