Thinking about buying a high end trail camera that will send me a pic when it's triggered.  I'm going to use it for our driveway for a little bit of security, it will be in a bear box high in the tree.  I just thought it would be a good idea, but I want a good one that takes good pic's and sends it to your phone.  Thanks

Tagging. I would be interested in WiFi, also.  Hope that's not too much of a thread jack.

Might not work if in a bear box might act as shielding

Buckeye cameras will do it, but they are pretty pricey.

Those do look perfect, BUT wow are they expensive at around 1,400 for the set up.  Not including 200 for the bear boxes for the camera and receiver.  I would think a really good security camera would be half price.  I did ask for the best and you probably gave me the best camera out there, so thanks for your help.  But that is just too much.

I'm pretty sure you can buy a whole setup of security cameras that you can view from your phone for around 3-500, but im not sure how they would work if you were trying to get them away from the house and mounted in a tree. I do know that you can wire them up on the outside of your house though.

Well the best in the industry is Reconyx. They are the most reliable, best pictures and most important trigger speed.

I just recently purchased two of the following Spartan GoCams (camo) for a piece of property I'm closing on.  Did a lot of research and the reviews seemed to be better than the rest of the cellular types.  I went with the Verizon one although I have AT&T service for my phone.  The reason is the property had excellent Verizon coverage but a blank spot for AT&T.  Cams will send to HCO/Spartan server then on to phone or email.

The AT&T version is cheaper....i.e same camera.  Google HCO/Spartan GoCam and you'll find reviews photos etc.  They also have a facebook site.

Have not set them out yet, so I can't add anything from that perspective.

For the price of a trail cam with those capabilities you can probably get a whole home surveillance system with wireless cameras and mobile viewing.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

I have been pondering this as well.. I know spypoint and bushnell now have some that do it. I am curious how much a month are you paying for the service for these cameras?

With the Verizon plan it's $25 a month per camera for 250 mb per camera, or $30 a month per camera for 1GB per camera.  AT&T is cheaper, like $14.99 a month.  The HCO GO service   comes in three packages, two of which are free and one that has a minimal mothly charge.

GoWireless Auto
Configure the GoCam for GoWireless Auto and send emails at no additional charge using our GoWireless Server with photos delivered to email recipients. This is our easiest option and is considered Zero Configuration . For help and troubleshooting please click

GoWireless Lite
Configure the GoCam for GoWireless Lite and send emails at no additional charge using your own Email Account settings with photos delivered to email recipients. For help and troubleshooting please click

GoWireless Premium
Purchase our low cost GoWireless Premium Service by the month and open up a world of new capabilities with real time communication, scheduled events, full control over image delivery, two way settings synchronization, image encryption, mobile applications, and more.

No Hidden Charges means that once you start your Premium Service plan you have unlimited capabilities. There are no per photo download charges or activity fees tacked on. One low low monthly cost is all you will pay for a Premium package overflowing with features.

Only Pay for what you use. A subscription for Premium service can be suspended on any month to halt recurring charges. What this means is that should you pull your cameras from the field, you have the option to place your service costs on hold until you are ready to deploy them at a future date.

id be looking at something other than trail cams for pics at home...like mentioned you have to pay a monthly service fee to get pics to send to you. You will take alot of unwanted pics at home. Covert cams tho has something out now thats different than most without a monthly fee I think..I havent looked into it

Spypoint reviews were not very good.

Covert Black Ops best by far I own 6 of them now.

Riverside archery sells them.

AT&T its 15 a month for extra line unlimited text

A good dog and a gun is way better than any security system you can buy.

Use trail cams for hunting and security systems for the home. Here's one for 299.00. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-4-Channel-HD-720p-Security-System-with-1TB-HDD-and-4-720p-Cameras.product.100151663.html
