Razor clams
« on: April 16, 2015, 04:24:04 AM »
I am thinking about taking my kids to try to get some clams this weekend but I have never done it before. I was thinking about going to ocean shores for the day. Can anyone steer me in the right direction. Thank you

Walk down tword the water and you will see 1000's of people digging. With the weather the way it is the clams will show in abundence. Its going to be easy.

Get down there a first light so you have plenty of time for the learning curve.

Dont buy those cheap PVC guns as they suck for getting down fast.

The most tedious part of razor clamming is cleaning 100+ clams at the end of the weekend. They are the best tasting clam tho.

I think Sportco in Fife has steel guns on sale right now for $15.  That's a good deal.  Check your PMs a little later.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

If you aren't seeing them, ask for assistance.  People are more than happy to help you out.  Once your eyes are trained as to what to look for it is easy pickings.  Start too early and you will be digging up sand shrimp.

We will be Westport Saturday afternoon, have a room already reserved. Going to do some surf fishing and crabbing Saturday afternoon. Then Sunday we will hit the clam tide in the morning followed by more surf fishing and crabbing Sunday afternoon.

We are staying at the Islander, I drive a black 96 Dodge Ram Sport 1500 4x4. You can't miss me, I'm 6'10" and always wearing my Packers hat. If you see me wandering around don't be scared to say Hi.
