I always assumed that most hunters used the Primos can call.   I have never had an animal come in after using it, but many others say they get a lot of deer responding to it.

I almost always use it in conjunction with rattling, which is also a very hit and miss proposition.

I have called in several blacktail  does with a primos grunt tube and rattling antlers.  In 2014 I called in a muley buck to within 50 yards with my mouth and subsequently was provided a nice archery shot.  Lately I found a YouTube video called something like Redemption Buck where the archer was able to get a second shot on the blacktail buck.  Can calls do work but I have yet to have a successful hunt using them.

I have had does almost run me over when I let out fawn in distress calls. But only through Sept. After that they havent seemed interested. The only deer other than that I have had come in (that I know of) was a doe came in all worked up looking for the ruckus I was making when I was rattling once. Good thing she had a nice 3pt bucks nose up her backside.

Any can works, but I would put more stock in a good grunt tube. Haven't heard many estrus calls from Blacktails but have had great success with grunting in bucks who return the call.
:yeah: You have to cover a lot of ground and find the one that wants to play the game ..you may go one day without anything responding then the next day is crazy ..Keep trying and eventually something will happen and then your hooked

On October 20th right before a storm, I hiked into a clearcut and found a doe beginning to come out into the clearcut to feed.  I watched this doe for almost 30 mintues.  She didnt even move just kept scanning the clearcut for hunters.  Finally she started to come out and behind her was another deer.  I heard a low short grunt and knew she was being pushed by a buck.  They snuck around me into the clearcut but exposed themselves along a small ridge.  This offered me the shot I was looking for and I was able to seal the deal.

From this experience I have tried to pay attention to time of year, weather, wind and the deer body language and vocalizations.
