I know alot of people who draw that very tag with less than 5. 1 guy drew it back to back years!!Someone with 400 names in the hat is usually "luckier" than someone with 1.Usually, maybe. If you look at the points drawn in the special permit categories, it's interesting how many above 16 don't draw. But yes, I'd rather have 20 than 1 point.

I was the guy with 29. I've stated before, I had 37 points (20 were poacher points) 2 years ago when drew my second choice for quality bull, I drew W. Wenaha as my second choice behind Dayton. I didn't draw the year before with 36. I did the math the year I drew, even with 37 points I had only like 40-50% chance of getting drawn. Like a needle in the haystack even with a huge load of points.
Everyone says they are going to get out of the draws but each year there is a fresh new crop of guys with one point. It does mostly come down to luck but if you play the game long enough I think you'll draw some good tags , they might not be the OIL tags but definately the deer and elk tags.. I do enjoy the entertainment and anticipation the draw brings each year though. It's been five years since I've drawn a good tag, hoping my dry spell comes to an end soon!
