Cleaning Winchester 1400 20 GA semi-automatic shotgun
« on: September 15, 2007, 09:29:57 AM »
I recently cleaned my Winchester 1400 20GA semi-automatic shotgun. when attempting to re-assemble the breech bolt jammed in the breech bolt slide. When I tried to put the gun back together of course the gun wouldn't re-assemble correctly. I took the gun to my gun shop. After two months in the shop the Gunsmith said that, "that he had to order a part." several days later the gun was returned but the gunsmith said, "it was re-assembled backwards." That's a crock, I assembled it correctly, the bolt was simply jammed. Does anyone have any experience re-assembling this gun? Tips and tricks would be appreciated.

Dave

If the bolt was simply jammed, why take it to a gunsmith? I would take the smith's word on it, he (or she) is the expert, not you.

Like the time my dad was fishing with a guy who was assembling some salmon trolling gear. The guy tied a new hootchie and hook, to a new flasher. He tied the new flasher to a new deep six diver. He gently carried and lowered the whole string of new gear over the side of the boat and lowered it into the water. The gear began to sink, and then kept slowly sinking into the depths, unattached to the fishing line and rod.... Dad's friend exclaimed "I tied it to my fishing pole!!!"
My dad slyly replied "then reel it up..."  ;)

The point is, oh, hell actually there is no point, I just wanted to share that story...

Trust the gunsmith, quit whining.
