Hot Spot Update!
« on: January 04, 2009, 01:59:29 PM »
Alright fellas, i finally got out the last 3 days and did some scouting in the bickleton area, i found some state land, and i found a farmer who was actually really friendly and didnt mind if scouted/ hunted on his land(its not a lot of ground, but still a nice gesture) what i found was that there isnt very many BIG bucks, and the food and cover is a lot different than where im from, wheat country and canyons, very interesting country, anyway, lots of doe's, but i have a ways to go till OCT.

This may be a common sense piece of advice, but hell... oh well. You might check out the harvest reports on the WDFW website for the areas you may want to hunt and for the weapon you want to hunt with. While they aren't great indicators of deer numbers or the size of the bucks, they can point you in the right direction. But in my new favorite deer spot there are only like 15 to 20 deer killed in the early muzzleloader season (when I hunt), but like 250 or so in the rifle season. So the deer are there, just nobody hunts them early. Then scout, scout, scout, obviously.
