First duck
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:03:24 PM »
So I FINALLY got my first duck today, got a Drake Mallard, then a Drake Wigeon, then a Drake Wood duck.  Pretty good for my first three.  I could have shot two more Mallard hens, but they weren't in a safe spot for a shot.  I will try to post pictures if I can figure out how to get them off my phone.

I hate all these newbies to hunting pull down Drake Woodies. ANd all the ones who pull down bands on their first or second hunts. I've been hunting for years and still haven't seen a woodie or hit anything with a band. :bash: :bash: :bash:

you hate them because they are lucky enough to get a band?

My first duck was a Drake Mallard that pecked at my boot so I rang his neck.

I did shoot my first duck on Saturday a hen Cinnamon Teal and my wife got a bird as well (her first time ever hunting) but the friggin moron we here hunting with took off out of the blind like a dog sent to retrieve before my wife could shoot it again to finish it off. Needless to say he chased the wounded bird out into the river where it got away.

Oh, to vent some more this so-called friend brought for his 12 gage 2 3/4in #7 steel target load TO HUNT DUCKS AND GEASE! It's the last time we hunt together.
God Bless,
Scott
